Ethos Leader Agreement

Version 1 — July 2, 2026

This Agreement applies when you apply to serve as a captain, serve as a student board member, or create or lead an independent group (each, a "Leader"). It supplements the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Participant Agreement, which continue to apply to you as a participant and are incorporated here by reference. This Agreement takes effect when you are accepted into a Leader role and remains in effect for as long as you serve.

Leading in Ethos means helping free men from pornography for their vocations. This Agreement describes what Ethos asks of you as a leader, what you can expect from Ethos, and the lines that protect you, the men you serve, and the mission.

Part A — All Leaders

1. You Are a Volunteer Peer Leader

You serve as an unpaid volunteer. You are not an employee or agent of Ethos National except to the limited extent expressly authorized, and you are not a licensed therapist, counselor, psychologist, social worker, or medical or mental health professional. You agree never to present yourself as one, and never to present Ethos as therapy, counseling, or clinical care. You are a brother and a peer — that is the role, and it is enough.

2. Confidentiality

What is shared in your group stays in your group. As a Leader you will hear personal disclosures and see member information that ordinary participants do not. You agree to:

• Keep confidential all personal disclosures made in Ethos meetings, calls, and program settings, during and after your service.
• Use member information you access through your role — names, contact information, group assignments, attendance, effort scores — only to run the program, and never share, screenshot, export, or copy it outside Ethos systems.
• Never disclose another man's participation in Ethos to anyone outside the program without his consent.

These obligations survive the end of your role and the end of your participation. The one exception is Section 4 below.

3. Code of Conduct

You agree to:

• Run the program as designed: hold your weekly meeting, make your daily accountability call, log attendance and activity honestly in the app, and attend the weekly captain meeting.
• Treat every member with dignity, patience, and charity — the accountability you lead exists to support men, never to shame them.
• Never use your role to pursue a romantic or sexual relationship, solicit money, or obtain any personal benefit from a member.
• Never retaliate against, penalize, or exclude any member for raising a concern about you or anyone else in the program.
• Conduct yourself, in and out of program settings, in a way consistent with Ethos's Catholic mission and with your visibility as a leader of it.
• Report your group's information truthfully. The program runs on accurate data.

4. When Someone May Be in Danger — Your Duty to Escalate

Confidentiality protects brotherhood; it never protects harm. If a member discloses suicidal thoughts, intent to harm himself or others, abuse, exploitation of a minor, or other illegal sexual conduct, or appears to be in crisis, you agree that you will:

• Not handle it alone. You are not trained for this, and you are not expected to be.
• Connect him to real help immediately — the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988), emergency services (911) if there is immediate danger, or campus counseling where available.
• Notify Ethos National directly the same day — at safety@ethosnational.org — following the Ethos incident protocol. Do not route the matter through your campus board; Ethos National will involve others only as needed.

Escalating is not a betrayal of confidence. It is the most loyal thing a brother can do, and this Agreement expressly permits disclosure when reasonably necessary to prevent harm or when required by law.

5. Scope of Your Role

This Agreement, together with the program materials for your role (such as the captain handbook and, for board roles, the Student Board Playbook), defines the scope of your volunteer service. You agree to act within that scope and in good faith. Activities outside it — including anything you undertake in a personal capacity — are your own and are not authorized by or attributable to Ethos National.

6. Truthfulness and Eligibility

You confirm that you are a man at least 18 years of age, that everything you have represented to Ethos is true, and that you continue to meet the participant requirements in the Terms of Service and Participant Agreement.

7. Term, Updates, and Removal

You serve at the discretion of Ethos National and, for campus roles, your campus program. This Agreement remains in effect for as long as you serve in any Leader role, including across semesters and role changes, without the need to re-accept it each term. Ethos may update this Agreement from time to time; when it does, the updated version will be presented to you in the app, and your acceptance of the updated version (or your continued service after notice of the update) is required to continue in a Leader role. Ethos or your campus board may remove you from a Leader role under the program's standards; removal from a role does not by itself end your participation as a member. Your confidentiality obligations survive removal, resignation, or graduation.

8. No Compensation

Leader roles are uncompensated. Approved program expenses are reimbursed or paid only through authorized channels (see Part B for the Ramp card) and require receipts.

Part B — Additional Terms While Serving in a Board Role

The following apply only while you hold a student board role (President, VP of Events, or VP of Advertising):

9. Administrative Data Access

Your Board Portal access shows member contact information, rosters, and engagement metrics for your campus. You agree to use this access only to administer your campus program, to keep your credentials secure and never share your login, and to make no export, copy, or disclosure of member data outside Ethos systems. Your access ends when your role ends.

10. Financial Stewardship

If you are issued a Ramp card, you agree to use it only for authorized program purchases (such as captain-meeting food within the weekly budget), to submit a receipt for every purchase, and to surrender the card on request. Purchases without receipts are personal expenses.

11. Program Responsibilities

You agree to review and approve captain applications in good faith under the program's standards, to conduct board responsibilities described in the Student Board Playbook, and to report your campus's information to Ethos National accurately.

Part C — Additional Terms for Independent Group Leaders

The following apply if you create or lead an independent group:

12. Self-Organized; Not Appointed or Endorsed by Ethos

You create and lead your independent group on your own initiative. Unlike campus captains and board members, independent group leaders are not selected, vetted, appointed, trained, supervised, or endorsed by Ethos National. Ethos provides the program materials and the App; you provide the leadership, and you do so as a participant, not as a volunteer, agent, or representative of Ethos National. You agree not to hold yourself or your group out as appointed, vetted, or endorsed by Ethos National, and not to represent your group as an official Ethos chapter without Ethos's prior written permission.

13. Duties Unchanged; Access

Every obligation in Part A — confidentiality, the code of conduct, the duty to escalate, non-retaliation, and scope — applies to you in full. Ethos National may suspend or terminate your group, your leader access, or your account at any time under the Terms of Service; references in Section 7 to campus programs and campus boards do not apply to independent groups.

Acceptance

By accepting this Agreement electronically, I confirm that I have read and understood it and agree to be bound by it, together with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Participant Agreement. A timestamped record of my acceptance, including the version accepted, is retained by Ethos National. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Michigan; for dispute resolution, see the Terms of Service.
